Builder's discount
You can set a default builder's discount allowance in the Miscellaneous File screen (Tools > Miscellaneous File). By default, builder's discount is entered as a fraction (e.g. 1/39th, which equates to approximately 2.5 %).
Switching to percentage input
If you prefer to enter builder's discount as a percentage instead of a fraction:
- 1
Go to Tools > System Preferences.
- 2
Click the Miscellaneous tab.
- 3
Tick Enter builder's discount as a percentage (near the bottom of the tab).
- 4
Click Exit to save.
Now when you return to Tools > Miscellaneous File, the builder's discount field accepts a percentage value (e.g. 2.5) rather than a fraction. Your automatic allowance is then applied to every new project alongside your default markup percentages.
This setting only affects new projects created after the change. Existing projects retain whatever builder's discount was in place when they were created.
