What are section templates?
If you do not want to maintain an entire template job, you can save just the section structure as a reusable template file instead. This gives you a lightweight way to apply a consistent breakdown of services and floors to any new project.
Saving a template
- 1
Open any job that has the section structure you want to reuse and go to the Takeoff screen.
- 2
Click Save Structure Templates at the bottom of the screen.
- 3
Choose a location to store the template — either in the cloud or your own personal storage. Give it a clear name (e.g. the client name, or the project type).
Importing a template
- 1
Create a new job and open the Takeoff screen.
- 2
Click Import at the bottom of the screen.
- 3
Browse to your saved template file, select it, and click Open. The section structure is imported immediately.
It is almost always quicker to import more sections than you need and then delete the ones you do not, rather than building them up from scratch. See bulk deleting and duplicating sections for how to remove unwanted sections quickly after importing.
