Before you start
Your drawings must already be in your cloud storage before you can add them to a project. If you have not done this yet, see Uploading PDF Drawings to the Cloud.
Adding drawings to a project
When you first create a project, the workspace starts with a blank placeholder PDF. To load your actual drawings:
- 1
Locate the drawing dropdown at the top of the workspace. This is the first control in the toolbar row and shows the name of the currently displayed drawing.
- 2
Click the plus icon to the right of the drawing dropdown.
- 3
A file browser opens showing your cloud storage. Navigate into the folder where you uploaded your drawings.
- 4
Select the drawings you want to add:
- To add a single drawing, click on it and press Open.
- To add multiple drawings at once, hold Ctrl or Shift to highlight several files, then press Open.
- 5
The selected drawings are loaded into the project. Ensign X displays the first drawing automatically.
Switching between drawings
Use the drawing dropdown to switch between the drawings loaded into the project. Click the dropdown and select the drawing you want to view. This is also how you move between drawings when performing takeoff across multiple sheets.
Managing drawings
Click the Manage Drawings button (located to the right of the drawing dropdown and the plus icon) to open the drawing management panel. This panel lists every drawing in the project and gives you the following options:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Add | Upload additional drawings you may have missed during the initial import. |
| Replace | Swap an existing drawing for an updated revision. Select the drawing in the list, then click Replace and choose the new file. |
| Delete | Remove a drawing from the project entirely. |
| Duplicate | Create a copy of a drawing within the project, useful when you need to work on the same sheet in different ways. |
| Search | Use the search field at the top of the panel to filter the drawing list. This is particularly helpful when you have a large number of files loaded. |
If you receive updated drawings during the life of a project, use the Replace function rather than deleting and re-adding. This keeps your drawing list tidy and avoids confusion over which revision is current.
You can add drawings at any point during the project — it does not have to be done at the start. If additional sheets arrive later, open the Manage Drawings panel or use the plus icon to bring them in.
