How colour coding works
If a tender submission date has been set on the job header, the job will appear in a colour on the amend job screen that indicates how close the deadline is. By default, the colours follow a traffic light sequence:
| Colour | Meaning | Default threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Green | You have plenty of time before the tender needs to be submitted | Typically more than a week |
| Amber | The deadline is approaching | Typically within the final week |
| Red | The tender is overdue | Past the submission date |
This provides a visual overview of all your active deadlines at a glance. On a busy job list with many active quotations, the colour coding makes it immediately clear which tenders need attention.
Setting a tender submission date
To enable colour coding for a job, set the tender submission date when creating or editing the job:
- 1
Open the job header — either during job creation or by returning to the job header from the takeoff screen.
- 2
Tick the Tender Submission Date box.
- 3
Select the date the tender needs to be submitted using the calendar control.
- 4
Press Continue to save.
The job will now appear in the appropriate colour on the amend job screen based on how close the deadline is.
Customising colours and thresholds
Both the colours and the time thresholds at which they change can be customised:
- 1
Go to Tools > System Preferences from the main menu.
- 2
Locate the tender submission date settings.
- 3
Adjust the number of days before the deadline at which each colour takes effect. For example, you might want amber to start two weeks before the deadline rather than one.
- 4
Optionally change the colours themselves if you prefer a different scheme.
- 5
Press Exit to save.
Changes to the colour thresholds apply to all jobs going forward and are reflected immediately on the amend job screen.
Setting a tender submission date on every job is a simple habit that pays off quickly. Even if the deadline is not critical, having the colour coding in place gives you a continuous overview of your workload and upcoming commitments.
If you manage a team, the colour coding is visible to all users. This means everyone can see which tenders are approaching their deadlines, helping to prioritise work across the team without needing a separate tracking system.
